This is cross-platform and works well enough, but sometimes can be buggy. I use an Elgato CamLink which is around $100 - $130. These can vary widely depending on OS and budget. (Amazon Basics works fine.)Ī capture card is the next thing you'll need then. Please respond with questions, I'll be around.Įlgato Cam Link 4K (you can get it used for half price): Īnd don't forget a micro-HDMI to HDMI cable of your choice. The Panasonic G85 may be a good option for you too, but I personally use an a6400 (basically just an a6100 with a couple more things) and you were interested in an a6X00. Autofocus on a6000 is great, a6100 is AMAZING (seriously, I can point to the camera and it's focused.)

(a6000 with capture would be around $500-600.) Honestly, Sony cameras are also much more easily upgradeable than Canon mirrorless (if you want to upgrade to the RP you need new camera lenses). a6000 lacks 4K and HLG and a bunch of settings that it doesn't sound like you're concerned about, and the a6100 has all of that, but buying an a6100 would put you around $700-800. I'd recommend the a6000 or a6100 for what you're doing. Perfect if you have an Elgato Cam Link or something similar. Clean 4K30/1080p60 HDMI out, and it's a huge upgrade from a C920 or BRIO.

using my a6400 for livestreaming is the best livestreaming decision I've made this year. Rather than do the audio through the phone, you will connect the audio to the computer's mic input. If it passes that test, then you will need a video capture device like a MiraBox Capture Card or Elgato Game Capture HD60 S to do the live rendering of the video to send it out on the internet. Turn on the camera and see what you get live on the TV.

First, can the camera output a "clean" video feed? By that I mean, just the off-the-sensor video without showing you the time and shutter speed and f stop? One way to test is to use the mini-HDMI output on the camera and find a cable that will plug in to the regular HDMI port on the back of a TV. Streaming - this is more technically complicated. Also, they make pocket audio recorders specifically for this purpose, so that may be something to look at in the future. Use the old Hollywood sync trick by having the on-camera talent clap once the sound and camera are running, and then you can use that moment in post-production to sync the audio and video tracks together. Filming videos - yes, you do video on the camera and audio recorded on your phone.
